Challenges of water and sewage management from a circular economy (CE) perspective are the centre of interest for a new international project "Monitoring of Water and Sewage Management in the Context of the Implementation of the Circular Economy Assumptions" (MonGOS).

The main goal of the project is to undertake international cooperation by leading scientific institutions in Europe, in the field of water and sewage management. This sector is currently facing many challenges arising from the implementation of the circular economy model – the political priority of the European Union.

Strategic goals of the project:

  • identification and assessment of the potential for transformation towards the circular economy in the water and sewage sector;
  • exchange of good practices and transfer of knowledge between leading scientific institutions in Europe in the field of water and sewage management (organisation of study visits, summer schools and conferences);
  • development of circular economy monitoring framework in the water and sewage sector;
  • development and implementation of a plan for the dissemination of international research results.

The project MonGOS is financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) within the framework of the International Academic Partnerships Programme (Grant No. PPI/APM/2019/1/00015/U/00001/PU/00001).
